Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and culturally respectful Temporary On-Call Palliative Care Coordinator to join our team at Shibogama First Nations Council to support families and community members in Kingfisher Lake, Wunnumin Lake, and Wapekeka. This role involves coordinating holistic, community-based end-of-life care in collaboration with local healthcare providers, caregivers, and Elders.

Position: Temporary On-Call Palliative Care Coordinator
Start Date: Immediate
Application Deadline: Open until filled
Responsibilities: Coordinate and deliver palliative care services, support symptom management, provide caregiver education, liaise with healthcare providers, and ensure culturally safe care.
Qualifications: RN, RPN, or equivalent healthcare certification with experience in palliative, hospice, or community care. Knowledge of Indigenous traditions and certification in palliative care (LEAP, CAPCE) are strong assets.
Excel in a collaborative and dynamic healthcare environment. A strong understanding of medical protocols and best practices. Be willing to travel periodically to remote and isolated communities.
Good understanding of the Social Determinates of Health In Indigenous Populations in the region.
Preference will be given to candidates who self identify as Indigenous Canadians.
Preference will be given to candidates who can communicate in dialects withing the Treaty 9 Territory.
