Summary
Under the direction of the Education Partnership Program Liaison, the incumbent will develop and implement the Youth Mentorship program to support mentors and engage new students through activities that aid their transition.

Qualifications:
Appropriate educational qualifications to manage the tasks and responsibilities of the position
Practical experience working with First Nations Youth would be an asset
Be able to participate meaningfully in the planning, development and implementation of the program
Commitment to participate in training and development
Experience in planning and facilitating workshops
Must be self-motivated and able to work without supervision
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Current Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable Persons check
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Must have a valid driver’s license
A good sense of humor
Ability to reinforce study skills
Ability to motivate others
Travel to workshops may be required
Travel to member communities may be required
Responsibilities:
Using the mentorship guide, develop a robust mentorship program
Coach, mentor, support, and motivate student mentors as they engage with new students
Use coaching methods that provide an environment that is participatory, supportive, and provides constructive feedback on performance
Assess the skills and values of new mentors and match them with new students
Work with mentors to develop plans and activities for new students
Conduct brief assessments of new students to ascertain who would benefit from a mentorship relationship
Regularly review and evaluate the experiences of both mentors and new students over the duration of the program
Provide timely and appropriate analysis and feedback to mentors and supervisors
Always ensure the health and safety of both mentors and new students
Conduct summative evaluation of both the tutoring and the mentoring program; prepare and submit report to the supervisor.
Work with other departments and agencies as needed.
